Care for what consumers already purchased, or care for Waves to make up for their quarterly losses?īy and large, a lot of the plugins Waves make with the exception of a few can be had elsewhere.

Funny, Ford hasn't pulled that with my F-150!Īs Waves state " The Waves Update Plan is the complete care plan for your Waves products.". Still, that's pretty sad that Waves resort to such a controlled position on what was deemed a final product sale, and then repositioned as an "Update Plan". At some point, I'll probably assess which plugins I use the most, which in actuality amounts to only about a dozen. I've been leaving my Waves assorted plugs (too many to list) at status quo. I'd be Interested in hearing how people are handling the WUP (or is that Whoops) as well. I would be interested to know how other people handle this. All my plugins are stored in their default locations. I also use a good number of the excellent bundled PreSonus plugins. What are the options within SO to manage this situation? I use “favourites” already, but is there a way to configure things so that the unused plugins are not shown in plugin lists in SO songs and projects? I’d gladly delete the plugin paths of the ones I don’t use so that SO does not scan them, but the way Waves in particular is stored on my hard drive I am nervous of messing with it. So, of the 65 Waves plugins, I do not use 56 of them! Of the plugins bought from other developers, I use the vast majority, but there are some I do not.

So far, my “policy” of not updating has worked, in that it has not caused any issues, as far as I am aware, when using Studio One.Īre there any known issues with older Waves plugins causing problems in Studio One? Do people WUP and if so, what is the reason? Generally, I like having up to date and supported software - I do not hesitate and am pleased to update SO at every major update, but that is different, I feel I’m getting something for my money! Like many users of this forum I suspect, I do not like the idea of having to spend this kind of money regularly on plugins I already own. I know I can get a small discount by going through the likes of If I update just the nine I actually use, the update price is $121. Currently they want $196 for me to update the lot. I have never updated any of my Waves plugins. My workflow is very settled these days, I know what tools I need to get a job done and of the 65 Waves plugins, this totals just 9.
These are all versions 9 or 10.Īll of these were bought about four or five years ago, and the truth is I do not use the majority of them.
I have the Gold bundle, which contains 42 plugins and a further 23 besides - total of 65. Like many people on this forum, I own Waves plugins.
